GEORGE WASHINGTON TRAVELLED THIS ROAD

More Frederick Maryland History, right across from the C. Burr Artz Library (Frederick County Public Library's HQ) rear facing Carroll Creek is a marker stating that then Lieutenant George Washington and future rival General Braddock stayed at a tavern near that marker.

At the time founding father George was a junior officer in the British Army fighting the French in the French & Indian War.
